About the tour

What awaits you

Our tour will begin at the Colosseum — of the former arena of blood and glory, which represents the power and spectacle of the ancient world. You will learn how it was built, who sat in the first rows, how gladiatorial battles took place, what role these spectacles played in the politics of the emperors. Near the Arch of Constantine, we will talk about changes in Rome and the transition to Christianity. Next, we will walk through Palatine Hill — the place where the history of the city begins. This is where the imperial palaces come in. You will see their remains and learn how the life of the Roman elite was formed. After that, we will go to the Roman Forum — the true heart of ancient Rome. The political, religious and social life of the city was concentrated here. You will see temples, basilicas, arches and the Senate building. We will talk about places that were of particular importance to the Romans: where «protected the soul of Rome», where, according to legend, Romulus died and where «navel of the world» was located. You will hear about «black stone» (lapis niger), vestals, rituals and symbols of this space. We will climb Capitol Hill and talk about ancient rites, divination by the flight of birds and see one of the most harmonious squares in the city.
